Vocabulary Words: magnify, size

Materials: 9x12" white paper, sharpies, crayons, magnifying glasses, cut paper magnifying glass

I take the students outside and look at bugs with magnifying glasses (I also have the jars that maginify along with plastic bugs for when time or weather doesn't permit). We draw our bugs (usually ladybugs, but I also help them draw ants and butterflies), then place them on a stem and draw a leaf to show our bugs "magnified". We glue the cut paper magnifying glass over the drawings (I cut these out due to time restraints). They make a wonderful display.
