We practice drawing
several different animals before beginning this project. Students begin
by drawing the animals in the foreground. They draw these animals
slightly larger than their closed fist. Using overlap, they draw
several types of foliage. Then they draw the middleground, and finally,
the background. Color the foliage with crayons. I have the students use
a minimum of 5 different greens. Embellish the edges of leaves with
bright colors. If students desire they may color the animals with oil
pastels. Paint any remaining areas with watercolors.
