Vocabulary Words: pattern, variety, value

Materials: 12x18" tan paper, sharpie, 12x18" black paper

I began this project by reading "The Calabash Cat" by James Rumford. The story is an African story from the Chadian people. We discussed the patterns, and how the animals in the story all had unique patterns that stood out because of the variety and values. Students then created their own animals and filled them with their own patterns.
